Matt Lucas Apologizes to Millie Bobby Brown After Appearance Remarks The entertainment industry is no stranger to controversies, and recently, actor and comedian Matt Lucas found himself at the center of one after posting about Millie Bobby Brown.

The Little Britain performer publicly apologized to the Stranger Things star after she accused him of “mocking” her appearance.

The Controversial Post

Matt Lucas shared pictures of Millie Bobby Brown last week while she was out in Los Angeles. She was wearing a pink tracksuit and has her hair pulled back. She looked a lot like his famous comic character Vicky Pollard from Little Britain, which made him laugh.

The post got a lot of attention right away, and media sites used the comparison more often. Millie Bobby Brown posted an emotional video on social media on Monday to talk about it.

In her message, she attacked the media for writing stories about how she looks. She also brought up the problem of how young women in the entertainment business are often looked at closely by the public.

Millie’s Response: Calling Out the Media

In her video, Millie talked about how annoyed she was that people were always commenting on how she looked. She talked about how society doesn’t always let young people in the public eye grow and change on their own.

“I think it’s necessary to speak up about this. I started in this industry when I was 10 years old. I grew up in front of the world, and for some reason, people can’t seem to grow with me,” she stated.

She was especially angry at the Daily Mail for writing a story about Lucas’s post, calling it “not journalism.” This is mean behavior.

Millie talked about how upsetting it was that adult writers were criticizing her looks and choices. She also said that some of the writers were women, which made her feel even worse.

Matt Lucas Issues an Apology

Following the backlash, Matt Lucas responded early Tuesday morning with a public apology to Millie Bobby Brown.

In his statement, he provided context for his post, explaining that he had only made the comparison based on her outfit and hair color, which resembled that of his fictional character, Vicky Pollard.

He emphasized that he never intended to insult or “slam” Millie, writing:

“I thought you looked terrific and I was mortified when the press wrote that I ‘slammed’ you, firstly because that’s not my style, and secondly because I think you’re brilliant. As I said, I wouldn’t have shared it if I thought it would make you angry. I’m sorry that it did, though.

A Bigger Talk About Watching the Media

Millie’s answer puts light on a bigger problem in the entertainment business: how the media constantly looks at young women.

She said that even though society says it supports and encourages women, there is still a desire to judge and break down everything they do for the public to see.

Her message is a powerful reminder of how words matter and how public figures and the media have a role to play in creating talks about women in the industry.

It also makes me wonder how people treat young female celebrities who are trying to build their jobs while being in the public eye all the time.

Lucas’s apology might help make things better, but Millie’s strong statement will make sure that the talk about holding the media accountable and treating young stars with respect stays open.
